When Governor Sarah Palin returned to Alaska on Wednesday she was greeted by people chanting "2012! 2012!" So will we see her run for president in 2012? Who knows?
Personally I believe that this campaign was a good way for her to get her feet wet. It opened her eyes to new possabilities. Sarah now has the next four (okay three) years to brush up on her international politics, become a better speaker (although I thought she did just fine), and hone her over demeanor and look. A few of her kids will be out of the house and her youngest will be ready for preschool so there is less for the press to complain about.
An African-American president and then a woman president. Wouldn't that be amazing? Two enormous, historical events in one decade. Something to think about.

If Palin runs for President in 2012, at least she has name recognition going for her... but that may not work in her favor
On November 6th I posted a BLOG entry in The Lee’s Summit Conservative entitled 2012 - the Year for Sarah Palin (http://leessummitconservative.blogspot.com/2008/11/2012-year-for-sarah-palin.html). The more I look around the more I see people like 2012DraftSarahCommittee and here at Moms for Sarah Palin as well as other sites who want to make a difference for 2012.
If the Conservative movement is to succeed in 2012, it must first be successful in 2010. That will require the establishment of a grass roots movement the likes of which the GOP have never seen. To do that, we need a Leader (emphasis on the capital L). The counter punching of Senator McCain with Sarah Palin got him close, but counter punchers seldom win the title.
We need people running for Governor of all 36 states that are up for grabs on November 2, 2010 who have shown Leadership. People who take the first punch with ideas and actions to take their States forward; let the other guys do the counter punching. Then we need Senators (33 of those are up for grabs in 2010) who will look at national politics and bring answers to the table, not the old tired rhetoric. Then we need Representatives in Congress who will take the fight straight on. Here in Missouri’s 5th District we need Jacob Turk to stand up to Emanuel Cleaver and defeat them in a race of ideas.
If we’re going to accomplish that task in 2010 in preparation for 2012, we need Leaders to stand up now and set the agenda Nationally for conservatives, or we will fail again in 2010 and that’s no way to head into the 2 years leading up to the next presidential debate.
I hope Governor Sarah Palin and the other true leaders of the party will stand up and begin to do the heavy lifting that’s needed to succeed.
Respectfully Submitted,
The Lee’s Summit Conservative
